At The National Dog Training Academy, we have trained over 10,000 dogs and offer face-to-face dog and puppy training courses in Southampton and The New Forest. In addition to our face-to-face courses, we also offer online training which includes a weekly live online Q & A session with our team of talented dog trainers.
Training works for dogs of any age. You definitely can, ‘teach an old dog new tricks.’

Over the past 12 years, not only have we trained 1000’s of puppies, dogs, and their owners, truly making a difference to the lives they enjoy together. We have also trained many students in ‘how to become a dog trainer’.
Our students, using our tried and tested methods of training, have built their own businesses, not only across the UK, including Northern Ireland but in far away places like Malta too and some of them are now award winners too.
The NDTA gives you lifetime support if you want to go it alone and we also have a pet gundog trainer programme where you can work for us in our pet gundog programme.

We really will show you ways of training your dog or puppy that will strengthen your bond, not break it. We’re not pretending it’s easy. It’s not. You need to put the work in but we will show you how to do it. We'll be with you every step of the way.
Lots of back up each week in between classes, videos on our website, all course materials are written up online as a reminder for you each week. Weekly Q & A, live, online by zoom.
We will teach you and your puppy the crucial basics you will need. Remember, the classes are for you and puppy alike. We will teach YOU, how to teach your puppy, to do the things you ask, when you ask, despite distractions. You will both have fun, build an amazing bond. As a team, we have personal experience of training a variety of dogs and puppies. We know that 'one size, doesn't fit all.'
If you're joining us, for basic training, with a sociable dog over 6 months of age, for whatever reason, then our Meet and Greet session is your best first step. This is a 30 minute session so you can understand our training techniques and so we can all get to know each other a little. The cost of this is refunded, if you sign up, within 24 hours, to a 6 week course. We will guide you which course we think is most suitable.
Our Foundation Class or Pet Gundog Class is the next step after puppy or basic training. These classes reinforce and build on what you've learned so far. Training your dog is for life, not just for now.
People stay with us for years and some people stay for life. We really do still have some of our very first customers in classes. Joining our Regular VIP classes of either behaviour class with some fun, low impact agility or a pet gundog class, keeps you and your dog progressing through our courses and climbing your Tree of Achievement. How many certificates and rosettes can you earn. Take a look at the Tree and see how far you and your dog could climb.
Pet Gun Dog classes are all about giving your dog opportunity to use his/her natural instinct and teaching your dog self-control. Retrieving using toys, balls and canvas dummies. Learn how to use a gundog whistler for recall, STOP and hunt. Work through our pet gundog gradings.
All breeds are welcome. If your dog enjoys chasing a ball, he/she will enjoy this class. This helps to reduce injury in ball obsessed dogs. Allow ball playing safely.
We not only teach dog and puppy training classes but we teach people how to Become Dog Trainers. Our Become a Dog Trainer programme has been running since 2016 and we have trained people from far and wide. Many students are now running their own successful dog training business, using our tried, tested, positive and effective methods of dog training. Students also get peer support from the closed Facebook group page and the team. Once you complete your course, we are still here to answer questions, offer support and watch you grow.
Further training days are available to move your training forward, so you can set up your own pet gundog classes, fun agility or other classes of interest.
Here you'll find a selection of short videos with Top Tips. Some of them are specific season related. All of them are about keeping your dog safe and healthy and recognising dangers you may not be aware of.

Cannot praise highly enough for the training support given both in outdoor group sessions and on Zoom during recent lockdown. Our little Cavapoo puppy is progressing so well all down to the training support and advice which books cannot provide me with.
