A Personal, Practical, and Purpose-Driven Approach
If you’ve been exploring the idea of becoming a certified dog trainer, you’ve probably noticed the flood of options available. There are large organisations, online-only courses, and trainers who claim to offer everything you need in just a few clicks. But let me ask you this: do you want to be just another number in a sea of students, or do you want personal support, tailored guidance, and real-world experience from someone who’s actually doing the job every single day?
If the latter resonates with you, then let me introduce you to my Dog Trainer Certificate Programme — a programme that’s intentionally small, deeply personal, and built around real-world experience.
People often ask me why I keep it so small – well here’s why
Here’s what makes it different.
1️⃣ Small Group Learning (Maximum of 4 Students Per Group)
Unlike large organisations I limit each group to just 4 students. Why? Because I believe quality matters. Small group learning offers you the chance to thrive, ask questions freely, and get the attention you need to grow into a confident dog trainer. I know this isn’t what everyone is looking for and that’s fine, but for those who need the smaller learning groups, this is for you.
I also know, from personal experience, with the crowd I trained with, only 2 of us ever built a successful dog training business. It was tough. There was no-one to turn to. In the end, I paid many thousands of pounds for direct mentorship for a year – I don’t think I’d have got going otherwise.
When you join a class with only three other people, you’re not lost in the crowd. You have space to breathe, learn, and ask the “what if” and “why” questions that lead to deeper understanding. You can have personal 121 time if you need it.
Here’s what this small-group model means for you:
- Personal attention: I’m right there to guide you through each step.
- A safe learning environment: No question is too small, and you’ll never feel judged for asking.
- Hands-on practice: In large groups, it’s easy to feel like a spectator. In my groups, you’ll be fully involved, leading training sessions, practicing with dogs, and building confidence from day one.
The result? You leave the programme not just with a certificate, but with the experience and skills to walk straight into the world of professional dog training.
Why does that matter to me?
I never stayed in any job longer than 3 years, before I became a dog trainer. Don’t get me wrong, I had some great jobs but they never held my attention. I know many people who are either drained by their job, have lot their passion for their job or who are just downright fed up with their job.
I have a passion for people being happy in their job – if not, it takes over your entire life, not just affecting you, but your loved ones too. If you’re not aware, my background is in nursing and health care. I care about people.
2️⃣ Personalised, Lifetime Support (Yes, for Life!)
Many larger training organisations don’t offer 121 support free of charge, as and when you need it. With just a small group of students, spread throughout the year, I have the time and the energy to do that. I know how important it is to be able to email someone if you can’t sleep at night, and know, that by the morning, you’ll have a response. The smallest of things can cause you sleepless nights in the beginning.
With my Dog Trainer Certificate Programme, you get lifetime support — for free. Whether you have questions a week, a month, or five years after you finish the course, I’ll be here to guide you, laugh with you and even cry with you if it’s appropriate. In fact, just this week, I received a message from a former student who thanked me for being “caring and thoughtful” in my support.
This level of support is rare and it’s a key part of my philosophy.
Here’s why:
- I want to build real relationships with you
- I want to remember you, your business, and your story so that I can offer guidance that makes sense for your journey.
- I know that starting and running a dog training business isn’t a straight path. Life will throw you curveballs, and I want to be there to help you adapt and succeed.
When you join my programme, you don’t get a certificate and a goodbye — you get a team and a mentor for as long as you need it.
3️⃣ I’m Not Just a Teacher – I’m a Dog Trainer, Too
Many course providers focus solely on teaching certification courses, and while that might be “easier” for them, and make good business sense (so I’ve been told) I believe it’s not what’s best for students.
You see, I’m still running my own dog training business, managing a team — and I’ve been told more than once that I should stop. Some have advised me to “just focus on the certificate programme”, but here’s the problem with that:
How can I teach others to build a dog training business if I’m not actively running one myself?
This is about building a successful business
It’s not about “what worked 20 years ago” or “what’s in a textbook.” My programme reflects what’s happening in the world of dog training right now.
The world is changing faster than ever before — from the way people find and hire trainers to the way businesses are run. Our economy is shifting, consumer expectations are higher, and the way people choose trainers is different from what it was even 5 years ago. By actively working with clients in my own business, I’m staying ahead of those changes and bringing that up-to-date knowledge directly to you.
I’m right there in the trenches, living the same experience I’m preparing you for.
When you graduate from my course, you’re not only learning theory — you’re learning reality.
4️⃣ Real-World Relevance (Because Times Are Changing Fast)
Dog training is not the same today as it was 10 or 20 years ago. Back then, simply listing yourself as a “dog trainer” might have been enough to attract clients. But today, things are different.
This is why it’s important to learn from someone who’s still running their own dog training business — someone who knows how the market works today. Someone who has studied business for over 20 years, kept up-to-date and understands how things like AI are impacting business.
I don’t just teach you how to train dogs; I show you how to build and grow your business. A business that can weather change.
If you want to become a dog trainer, you need to be prepared for today’s market, not the one that existed 15 or 20 years ago.
5️⃣ You Deserve to Be Seen, Heard, and Supported
Have you ever taken an online course and felt invisible? Like you were one of a hundred students clicking through pre-recorded videos? It’s frustrating, and it’s not how I do things.
When I started this programme, I made a promise to do things differently:
- Small classes, big attention: You matter. I get to know your name, your goals, and your challenges.
- No cookie-cutter solutions: When you reach out for support, I don’t give you a generic answer. I ask about your situation and offer advice that works for your business. We have 121 zoom calls if that helps.
- No numbers game: I’m not interested in churning through as many students as possible. I’m interested in guiding people who are ready to become thoughtful, skilled, and compassionate trainers. Remember, I’m still making an income from my dog training business.
You won’t feel like a cog in the machine — you’ll feel like part of a team. And that’s exactly how it should be.
