A Life Transformation
When things go wrong
Ever had one of those moments where everything goes wrong at once?
My moment came when my hovercraft houseboat sank. Yes, you read that right. There I was, stuck in an NHS job I didn’t love, living on a rather unique houseboat, and trying desperately to train my unruly working dog pup – who’d just got us kicked out of our second training school.
Talk about rock bottom. Or should I say river bottom?
But sometimes, when everything falls apart, it creates space for something better to emerge.
Fifteen Years Later
Fifteen years later, I run one of the UK’s most successful dog trainer certification programmes. Our graduates are transforming dogs’ lives across the country – like Fi, who’s helped over 80 dogs in just her first year, and Michelle, who’s expanded to a team of three trainers and wins industry awards year after year, Rob, who now gets paid £500 a week, just for one dog – he’s doing residential training for a gundog breeder – and that’s just his starting point.
But here’s the thing – I’m not special. I didn’t have any magical advantages. In fact, quite the opposite.
How Did I Do It?
What I did have was:
A burning desire to do better than the training schools that had failed my dog
The courage to make a complete career change
A background in nursing that taught me something crucial about dog training (though I didn’t know it at the time)
That last point? It’s the secret ingredient that most aspiring dog trainers never consider. But I’ll get to that in a minute.
First, let me ask you something:
- Are you stuck in a job that doesn’t fulfill you?
- Do you dream of working with dogs for a living?
- Have you experienced frustration in training a dog?
- Are you ready for a complete career change but scared to take the leap?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you’re exactly where I was all those years ago. (Hopefully minus the sinking houseboat!)
The Good News
The good news? The pet industry is booming. More people than ever are getting dogs and seeking professional training.
The Bad News
The bad news? Many aspiring trainers never make it because they’re missing three crucial elements that I discovered during my journey from homeless to successful trainer.
Watch My Video
I recently recorded a video sharing exactly what these elements are, along with the full story of how I went from having nowhere to live to building a thriving dog training business.
Want to know what that crucial nursing experience taught me about dog training? And why it might be the missing piece in your journey too?
Click here to watch my free video: “How to Become a Dog Trainer”
In it, I share:
- The full (slightly embarrassing) story of my sunken houseboat epiphany
- Why getting kicked out of two training schools was the best thing that could have happened
- The surprising connection between nursing and successful dog training
- How to avoid the biggest mistake many aspiring dog trainers make
Whether you’re considering a career change, dreaming of working with dogs, or just curious about how someone goes from rock bottom to running a successful multi-national training programme, this video will show you what’s possible.
Because if I could do it from the bottom of a river, imagine what you could do.
