Is my dog too old to learn new things?

No dog is ever too old to learn. Older dogs may take a little longer to pick up new skills, but with patience, short sessions, and positive reinforcement, they can make excellent progress.

Why does my adult dog still pull on the lead?

Pulling is a natural dog behaviour and we inadvertently reward it — your dog gets to where they want to go. Even in older dogs, you can change this by teaching them that walking beside you brings the best rewards and by staying consistent.

Can training help with behaviour problems in older dogs?

Yes. Many behaviour issues — such as jumping up, barking, or ignoring recall — are habits your dog has learned. Training helps replace old patterns with new, more desirable ones. It’s about giving your dog clear guidance and practice.

How long will it take to train an older dog?

Every dog is different, but consistency is key. Some behaviours can improve in just a few weeks, while more ingrained habits may take longer. Regular, reward-based training at home combined with structured classes often brings the best results.
