Classes are at Hedge End, SO30
Did you know, a study showed that a dog can sniff out a single teaspoon of sugar dissolved into a million gallons of water! Can you imagine what your dog is experiencing, every second of every day.
Your dog will use their nose for many reasons.
Andrea Misto methods- Tuscany Truffle Hunter
or
In our Truffle Hunting for Fun workshops, we use the real methods, as taught to us from someone who actually hunts truffles for a living. We had an amazing training day with Andrea Misto from Tuscany. We’ve also since enjoyed another amazing day with Julie, a European Truffle Hunter, and Ben from the UK Truffle Festival.
You can find out more about Andrea on his website.
You can find out more about the next UK Truffle Festival here.
Andrea’s methods are all about teaching the scent directly and teaching your dog to not only find the scent, but also, gently wipe away the earth to uncover the truffle without damaging it.
This is one of our favourite courses. The excitement from the dogs as they search and find the Truffle scent, the thrill of the owners as they can’t believe what their dog is achieving.
Everything you learn can be transferred to quality time in the home, the garden and the park.
We know that dogs are more optimistic if given opportunity to get positive scent experiences.
Your dog’s nose is an amazing talent, don’t let it be left idle. Imagine if you were an amazing artist and you had no opportunity to use your skill? Don’t leave your dog’s amazing ‘scent talent’ idle.
You never know, you might actually find a Truffle when out in the forest with your dog!

As with all nosework, it’s about your dog learning what smell they are supposed to concentrate on. It’s a great confidence builder, as your dog’s nose now has a purpose.
Different dogs will work differently with their nose. Some dogs concentrate heavily on the ground. Others, such as Flatcoats and Golden Retrievers will make more use of air scent. Watch your dog when they pick up a scent.
Your dog will learn,
You will learn,
You and your dog will learn to work as a team and have fun activities you can do at home and out on walks.
