Foundation class dog training is your second step on your training journey. By this stage you and your dog should have a good understanding of the basics of lead walking, recall, focus and one command, one response for all of your commands.
The foundation reinforces all that you learned in puppy class or back to basics and starts to proress this. It also introduces you to some other skills and activities, all of which are useful for your next stage of training.

This 6 week programme will work you towards your Bronze behaviour award or your Grade 1 pet gundog. It also teach activities for fun and focus.
The Pet Gundog grade 1 has the same behaviour tasks as Bronze Award with the addition of teaching a retrieve.

It’s a big step to bronze, but complete your full 6 week programme and I guarantee you will receive your Foundation Award and as you go, we will mark you off on all your bronze achievements.
For activities such as lead walking, down, spins turns etc. do refer back to your puppy or back to basics class guides if you need to.

At the end of your 6 weeks you will be ready to join one of our VIP Regular weekly classes. See below for more information. This course will prepare you for this next level.
Classes are on a monthly direct debit system of £56.25 per month. This keeps your place in your chosen class for as long as you wish. This is set up through GoCardless to keep things neat and tidy and completely in your control.
Payment is a 12 month subscription, split into 12 monthly payments. It is based on 48 weeks of the year, but we are open for 51 weeks. This allows for any weeks that you miss. Please note, lady dogs in season cannot attend classes.

There is of course the option to take up pet gundog classes as well as the combi classes.
This class works you through a grading system from grade 1 – 6. I really want to stress that these classes are as much about reinforcing and progressing all the behaviour you and your dog have learned so far. Lead walking, sit stays, focus, recall – all a very strong part of the programme.
In pet gundog classes we do more whistle work and we introduce retrieving. Other than that the behaviour aspect is very similar to the Combi class programme. If you don’t complete your bronze award in foundation, it gets carried through in pet gundog class and you get marked off for grade 1 gundog and bronze.
This class works you through a behaviour award programme from bronze to titanium. Part of the class time is spent introducing low impact, fun agility skills. You learn a range of things that are not only useful for agility but also for fun in the park and the garden. As you progress you get opportunity to show off the focus you have from your dog as you guide your dog around an agility course. All low impact for safety of dogs.
We have people in classes who have completed the entire grading but continue to come as it’s all about the quality time with their dog and keeping training going.
Without the fun challenge of working towards a grading, or knowing that you have a class to attend each week it is so easy to let your training slip. So many people come back to us months later because they find their training and therefore their dog’s behaviour has slipped.
As part of your package you get free 15 minutes sessions with Sandra, as you need them, to discuss your training or anything else that you need help with.
