Does your dog retrieve… but not to the standard you want?
Maybe he breaks before you send him. Drops the dummy halfway back. Won’t deliver cleanly to hand. Or struggles with directional work and unseen retrieves.
This intensive one-day workshop is designed for dogs who already have the basics — but need to take their retrieving to the next level. We’ll work on steadiness, precision, and more advanced retrieve work that separates a casual fetch from proper gundog retrieving.

This isn’t beginner retrieve training — this is refinement work for dogs ready to progress beyond the basics.
Unlike regular classes where you cover multiple skills, this workshop gives you one full day focused entirely on retrieving.
You’ll get:
– Small group instruction — Maximum 4 dogs, so you get individual attention
– Theory + practical — Understand *why* your dog does what he does, and *how* to fix it
– Hands-on coaching — Work directly with Sandra Lawton, who has 17 years of specialist pet gundog training experience
– Real progress — Leave with a clear training plan and noticeable improvement
This workshop is perfect for:
– Dogs who already retrieve but need refinement
– Dogs with basic obedience and recall
– Owners who want to perfect this essential gundog skill
– Anyone frustrated with inconsistent or messy retrieves

Not suitable for complete beginners. If your dog has never retrieved or lacks basic obedience, start with our Pet Gundog Foundations course.

🎓 Instructor: Sandra Lawton — 15 years specialist gundog experience
– Your dog (basic recall required)

– Gundog whistle – you can buy these from our shop if you don’t have one

Our “Refine Your Retrieving” workshops run, mostly, on the 4th Wednesday of every month at Hedge End, SO30 4BG.
